UPDATE 4/4/17: Plans have been filed for the11-story condo building that will rise at 22-43 Jackson Avenue, revealing that the 74,805-square-foot development will consists of three retail spaces on the ground floor and 71 apartments on floors two through 11. The building amenities will include a fitness center, business center, meeting rooms, and outdoor spaces.
A single story building in Long Island City, just a block from the former 5Pointz building, will soon make way for a 10 or 11-story condo building with a retail component, The Real Deal reports.
Development firm, Circle F Capital purchased the site, located at 22-43 Jackson Avenue, from an affiliate of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters labor union for $25 million. Plans haven't yet been filed for the building, so it's unclear how many units this new building will have, but the developer is planning for at least 25,000 square feet of retail, according to TRD.
The current building at the site has been home to the local 808 pension and health fund union for the past 20 years or so. For Circle F, the site provides 76,000 square feet of buildable space.
This is new project is just the latest development announced or under construction along Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. ODA New York recently began leasing its rentals at 22-22 Jackson Avenue, and The Jackson at 13-33 Jackson Avenue is bringing 56 apartments to the neighborhood.
