Bored by the lengthy hearings of the Williamsburg waterfront battle? Looking to turn your attention and placard-making skills to an even more futile fight? Boy, have those active little hipsters got a good one for you. Check out the Internet petition to create a permanent car-free area around the Bedford L subway stop:
Most New Yorkers do not own cars, so why should the city?s most lively and creative neighborhood tailor to automobiles. Truck drivers that are just passing through the neighborhood, many of whom violate their designated routes, abuse Bedford Avenue. Needless to say, there's already a cute T-shirt on sale to celebrate the cause, complete with a guitar pick-shaped logo.
