1) A year-and-a-half after losing the West 12th Street Celebrity Townhouse Smackdown to David Byrne, Braden Keil reports, Meryl Streep has finally sold her townhouse/mansion (lovely deck pictured at right). She wanted $12 million, but she got $9.1, from Johnson & Johnson heiress Elizabeth "Libet" Johnson. That's barely enough to cover Streep's spread at Tribeca's River Lofts, where she's neighbors with Victoria's Secret jiggler Karolina Kurkova. [Braden Keil/Gimme Shelter]
2) This one's not very celeb-ish, but it's a good story nonetheless. Hedge fund biggie, art world agitator and general rabble-rouser Daniel S. Loeb bought a $45 million penthouse in 15 Central Park West. All fine and dandy, but what about the 44-foot-wide townhouse he bought on Bank Street in the West Village just nine months ago? Well, why not put it back on the market ? with a 69% markup. That's how the rich stay rich, people. [William Neuman/Big Deal]
3) Speaking of rich guys, Louis Bacon is shedding some of the 540 acres he owns in Southampton. The largest private landholder in the Hamptons is selling five residential building parcels, ranging from 5 to 9 acres each. Brokers estimate he could get between $4 and $10 million for each. Bacon reportedly bought the whole estate for $25 million in 1998, and the property currently has three single-family homes and some other crap. [Braden Keil/Gimme Shelter]
4) Mets' center-fielder Carlos Beltran was tired of all the real estate attention being lavished on the Yankees, so he got spotted checking out a 2,500-square-foot three-bedroom apartment on the 65th floor of 425 Fifth Avenue, at 38th Street. The price is $6.995 million. [S.Jhoanna Robledo/NYMag]
