Governors Island Revamp Update: Four Visions of Nothing

2005_11_govplansnew.jpg

Remember those four glorious visions for a revamped Governors Island released with much pomp late last year? Yeah, well, uh, forget that. Crain's reports that the plans are being trashed because they all cost too much to realize. The likely next step: divvying up the island into smaller, more easily ruined pieces. (One bit of good news: the deed requires the island include a 40-acre park.)

Oh, and for good measure, Polis' Lisa Chamberlain adds, "And no, Calatrava’s Gondolas aren’t going to happen, either."
