Rounding out what's become just an awesome morning on the Upper West Side, we dropped a line to the RAMSA offices requesting a new rendering of Robert A.M. Stern's tony, prewar-alluding 15 Central Park West. Why? To showcase the major tenant that just signed on in the building: Best Buy. (Until they respond to our emails, the above Curbed staff rendering will have to do.) Let's cut to the quote:
"Electronics to me are high-end for the new generation," said Arthur Zeckendorf, who was the developer of 15 Central Park West, along with his brother, William Lie Zeckendorf. "The Samsung store in Time Warner Center has been a great success."All well and good, Mr. Zeckendorf, but this is—uh, Best Buy. And while we happen to love Best Buy when the urge for a new memory card strikes, it's still—uh, Best Buy. (Good thing those billionaires bailed on the building.) Let's give the final word on this landmark retail signing to a Curbed email correspondent: "Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory."
