1) Financial District: First, some dispute over whether the "great old buildings on Broadway, between Fulton and John Streets" are indeed great. One commenter notes, "[T]he Corbin building is a dirty, decrepit mess, and measures about ten feet wide max. The other building (the neighboring building, I assume) is even uglier and dirtier and would look absurd next to the glass transit center." Aesthetics aside, the the Corbin building will reportedly be saved and incorporated into the MTA's new Fulton St. Transit Center (right), but the buildings at 194 and 198 Broadway will get the ax.
2) Union Square: The space on the corner of 4th and 13th will be a 162-room Sam Chang hotel. More on McSam and his growing empire here.
