Barbara Corcoran Still Believes in Red Hook

2007_03_Corcoran%20Van%20Brunt.jpgBeen a while since we looked at the Red Hook building at 293 Van Brunt that caused the ground in the neighborhood to rumble a little when Barbara Corcoran bought it for $1.075 million nearly two years ago. Turns out the storefront, which Babs boasted was worth $2,500 a month in rent, is still empty. It was PriceChopped to $1,800 a month, but still no takers. The broker representing the property says:

We all strongly believe in Red Hook. Some people thought Barbara bought the building as some kind of press ploy. And, yes, she may have overpaid just a bit, but in the long run, this is going to be a great investment.
There may be a tenant on the, um, hook for the space, which is several blocks north of the cluster of shops and eateries closer to the Red Hook Fairway.
