Q: What do you get when you mix Ikea with Thor Equities on the Brooklyn waterfront?
A: A big plywood wall of blue that extends for nearly a half-mile.
We don't know if it's the biggest construction fence in New York City or the Tri-State region or the world, but it was pretty big when Ikea had cornered the market on fence action. Now that a fence has gone up on Beard Street for the takedown of the remaining buildings of the old Revere Sugar Plant, it's freaking bigger. A special correspondent checked out the length found it to be almost a half-mile (.44 miles to be exact). If you know a bigger blue fence, by all means, take the Red Hook Challenge. (Note: Pre-existing fences around airports, military bases and government facilities don't count, nor does the fence on the border with Mexico.) Nice!
