Is this the reason Sam Chang said he was feeling like the Brooklyn hotel market is going to be saturated? Jotham Sederstrom uses the recent panel on hotel rooms in Brooklyn as the jumping off point to produce a users guide in today's Daily News to all the new planned Brooklyn hotels that will pump up the room count to about 3,000 by 2010. Architect Gene Kaufman, who has five hotels on the drawing board, including a Holiday Inn just revealed on Schermerhorn Street downtown, is quoted again saying that Brooklyn hotel rooms are like Starbucks and the market isn't close to being maxed out. Regardless, 1,300 new rooms are coming to downtown Brooklyn alone. (Click on the thumbnail for a larger image.) And the News found that most existing hotels--even the Gowanus Comfort Inn--are pretty much booked solid. What interests us most, though, is word of a hotel coming to Berry Street between N. 11 and N. 12 Street.
