As you have probably heard by now, this week's New York magazine carries a lengthy feature on the supposed degentrification of Red Hook, a topic so controversial and hot that it couldn't even knock an old dead socialite off the cover. At the center of this hot issue is Adam Sternbergh's argument that Red Hook was poised to have its moment, and the fires of gentrification burned bright for a while, but they quickly died out and now the little Brooklyn neighborhood that could is regressing.
So, is he right? To find out, Curbed is packing up the laptops and moving to Red Hook?for the day. All day tomorrow the entire Curbed Network?Curbed, Eater and Racked?will be blogging live from Red Hook, hogging the Wi-Fi and getting fat at Baked on Van Brunt Street. In addition to our real estate coverage, Racked will be all up in the latest Fairway, Ikea and retail development news, and Eater will most likely be carbon-dating the fixtures at 360 looking for signs of life. Various Red Hook luminaries will also be stopping by for chats about the state of the 'hood. We may even be graced by some surprise visitors. We don't want to give anything away, but here's a hint: Barbara Corcoran. And oh, by the way, we're not kidding about any of this. Seriously.
