The Curbed Cup, our annual award to the New York City neighborhood of the year, for the past three years has been determined by reader vote. This year, we're upping the ante with a 16-neighborhood elimination tournament spanning the month of December. Here now, we enter the semifinals in our quest to determine the neighborhood that most defined New York, for better or for worse, in 2007.
Tuesday Recap: In the final second-round battle, #11 seed Coney Island blew it out, trumping #3 seed Williamsburg in the biggest blowout of the second round with 63.8% of the vote. That sets up an epic outer-borough semifinal showdown between Coney and #10 seed Long Island City. Rest assured, additional servers are being installed at the Curbed Data Center as we speak to handle this one. But that's tomorrow.
Today's Matchup: For the right to take on Coney or LIC in next week's finals, in the near corner, the #4 seed, the West Village. In the far corner, yet close enough to border the Village is the upstart #9 seed, Tribeca. Enough hype. Let's get to the vote.
