The building at 110 Amity Street in Cobble Hill being developed by Time Equities, which got a chilly reception from the Landmarks Preservation Commission and the local Community Board (and was nicknamed the "Amity Street Horror") is back with some modifications. In this iteration, a mews design that had drawn ire has been replaced with something that look more like an alleyway and the design of new townhomes that would be built has been changed to fit in more with the neighborhood. Additions to the top of an historic building have also been toned down and the developer promised the new condos would have rules again hanging "wet bathing suits" on the roof and using "tiki torches." The redone design was rejected again by the Community Board last week, but was brought back with tweaks for a surprise appearance last night at a meeting on Gowanus rezoning. This time, the Community Board gave the conversion of the historic Lamm Building a thumbs up and gave conditional approval to the new additions provided more tweaks are made. The plan still needs to go back to the Landmarks Commission. No tiki torches?
