The Landmarks Preservation Commission has the authority to order that the Greenwich Hotel's penthouse?which turned out to be different than what the LPC approved?be torn down, so co-owner Robert De Niro showed up at the hearing yesterday to ask for retroactive approval. And he wasn't the only celeb in the room. Ed Burns, a neighbor of the Tribeca hotel, also testified that he finds the penthouse addition to 377 Greenwich Street unoffensive. De Niro apologized for "any minor little mistakes," and in the end the commission will probably ask for the penthouse to be tweaked, not trashed. [NYT; previously]
