Yes, it's another Karl Fischer building, but this is a conversion of a 1907 building that resides in the Ladies' Mile Historic District (and housed '80s megaclub Danceteria), which means that Hot Karl cant change much. From the looks of the renderings, his penthouse addition is both staid and set back fairly far. The look of the new-construction 4BR townhouse next door, however, is still unknown. Since the exterior will stay the same, the focus is on the interiors, designed by the hallowed Roman & Williams?last seen redoing the lobby of the Royalton and working on both 211 Elizabeth and the Ace Hotel. The apartments at Alma ("soul" in Spanish) are massive, ranging from 3,000 to 4,500 square feet. The townhouse will be slightly bigger, at 4,585sqft. Amenities include weekly maid service (in custom uniforms, of course) and "nightly white-glove turndown service featuring custom chocolates." The centerpiece of the penthouse's private rooftop, a stainless-steel cantilevered pool, is seen above. The building sure has come a long way from club kids and Madonna performances, though maybe Madge will buy in the building just for nostalgia's sake.
