A state Senate bill being introduced today calls for a rent freeze for low- and moderate-income households living in the city's rent-stabilized apartments. Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada's bill would freeze the rents of nearly 300,000 households for a decade, with those making up to $45,000 eligible for the freeze. The bill calls for landlords to fund the program, so we're sure this one will get passed without a hitch. [NYP]
