Preservation group the Historic Districts Council is highly agitated about developer Thor Equities' plan to tear down some historic Coney Island buildings to construct new-and-improved fast food joints. Writes the HDC on its blog, "Thor's mad rush to begin demolition is a clear attempt to get rid of these buildings before the LPC can even evaluate the merits of a Coney Island Historic District." Meanwhile, HDC's graphic of the buildings reduced to rubble is worth a chuckle, though Thor's real rendering of what's to come may wipe that smile off your face. [HDC; previously]
