Roo Rogers and his wife Bernie own one of the funkiest studio apartments in the city, but the eco-entrepreneurs rented it out despite the 670-square-foot space once hosting Renzo Piano and Roo's dad Richard Rogers at the same time?shattering the Nolita record for international-design-competition-wins-per-livable-square-foot. So where's the son of a starchitect to turn when he's seeking out more comfortable digs? Why, the city's most starchitecture-clogged neighborhood, of course!
Records show that Roo Rogers and family (his mother Ruth Rogers is also on the deed) have closed on a 14th floor apartment at 100 Eleventh Avenue, the glittery Vision Machine cooked up by cartoon supervillain Jean Nouvel. He may have received a friends-and-family discount, too. Rogers paid $3,360,225 for what we think is a 2,000-square-foot apartment with 2BRs/2.5BAs and some prime placement along the curvy portion of the building's window wall. The uncertainty stems from the listing's StreetEasy page (the Elliman listing is already gone), which is labeled #14C but appears to show the size (1,760 square feet) and floorplan of the D-line of apartments. The asking price is given as $4.4 million. Here's the correct (fingers crossed!) floorplan for #14C:
