Before Richard Meier was a starchitect, he designed the Westbeth housing complex, the collection of 383 live-work units for artists in the far West Village. The building is under consideration for landmark status, and some of its resident artists joined forces with the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation to open their doors to the public yesterday. We popped into a few of the units to get a look at how the artists have arranged their spaces. Kindly pardon our amateur photography and the low lighting long enough to take a look through our photo gallery above.
