By rejecting an appeal filed by businesses owners in the Manhattanville section of West Harlem, the Supreme Court has essentially given the go-ahead to Columbia University's 17-acre expansion into into the neighborhood. In June the state Court of Appeals upheld the Empire State Development Corp.'s use of eminent domain to seize the "blighted" land in Columbia's desired footprint following an earlier court victory by the project's opponents. Manhattanville will be crawling with drug-dealing fratboys soon enough.
