When a fire forced Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer from his UWS apartment into a rental across town, he finally understood just what his UES constituents have been complaining about all these months: the Second Avenue Subway is annoying. Stringer tells the Times about his realization that Second Avenue right now is "basically an outdoor storage bin": "My first day, getting coffee, I can honestly say I did not know which way to walk or how to navigate the streets...Do you go left, under the crane, or do you go around the corner, under the cement truck?"
