Rumor had it that the co-op belonging to famed Upper East Side restaurateur Elaine Kaufman, who died last month, would be sold to pay estate taxes and bequests. Buyers ahoy, because the co-op at 425 East 86th Street has officially hit the market, the Observer reports. Those taxes and bequests must be hefty, because the price tag for the 2BR penthouse is, at $2.995 million, much higher than any recorded sale at the Yorkville building. But hey, we are basically talking about Elaine's home away from Elaine's.
