Apartment #34B at One Beacon Court, above, caught our eye last month for asking $16.5 million, about $10M more than its 2005 sales price. It caught Ajit Jain's eye, too?because he lives next door, in the auctioned-off pad that once belonged to fraudster Marc Dreier. Jain, a possible successor to Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway, picked up Dreier's place for $8.3 million in 2009. Now, he's agreed to pay $14.65 million for neighbor #34B, the Journal reports. His plan: to combine the two apartments into one 6,000-square-foot pad, with what would end up being the building's largest private terrace. We get what Buffett sees in this guy.
