With any schadenfreude-tinted luck, we'll have a new Karl Fischer Row in Williamsburg by 2012, with the news that aptsandlofts.com is pimping a new building at 544 Union Avenue. Designed by Hot Karl in the flesh, the 98-unit building breaking ground "any day now" is on Union between Frost and Withers, a few doors down from the site at 568 Union which opened for sales last week. The old Beach Russ factory was demolished in 2007, and the site was snapped up by Tryad Group in 2006 with plans for a six-story condo building by Gene Kaufman. Stalled post-market crash, Long Island developer Heatherwood Communities picked it up for $11.5 million last year.
