Even though the LPC approved the new plans for 27 Cranberry Street, it looks like the owners are still getting flack from local preservationists. Brooklyn Heights Blog reports that even though the new plans replace the old brownstone for a red brick and the bronze on the outside for zinc, everyone is still not pleased. A member of the Historic Districts Council says “It’s too big. Cranberry Street is specifically low scale so it’s a tough site. This might have worked if it was on another block in Brooklyn Heights.” This seems to be getting ridiculous, and Brooklyn Heights Paper puts it best: "Are we now in the business of arguing over which imaginary “past” we’d like to embrace in future construction?"
