The folks at NYU's Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy spend much of their time crunching housing-related numbers. Now, so can we! The Furman Center has just launched the Subsidized Housing Information Project (SHIP), a map and database of 235,000 affordable rental units in New York City, with info pulled from about 50 different sources. One key use of the site: tracking properties where subsidies from Mitchell-Lama, HUD, or other affordability programs (the site has a directory) are soon to expire. As of now, Team Furman has identified 227 such properties where subsidies will expire by the end of 2015. Properties are also searchable by number of violations and liens.
