Residents of Greenwich Village did not love the 2009 plan for St. Vincent's Triangle, a park bounded by former St. Vincent's Hospital buildings at Seventh Avenue between West 12th Street and Greenwich Avenue. But the park plan got a second chance to make a good first impression at the Community Board 2 meeting this week, with a presentation from landscape architect Rick Parisi of M. Paul Friedberg and Partners. The old plan called for an 8,500-square-foot park that would leave room for garbage facilities and a loading dock; the new plan is for the 15,102-square-foot park rendered above. Of course, bigger isn't necessarily better where the neighborhood is concerned: one neighbor's statement read at the meeting called for "small, oddly-shaped but enjoyable green spaces" instead. Either way, it will be up to developer Rudin Management to create and maintain the park.
