On Monday, Union Square station unveiled its new digital interactive installation, Union Square in Motion. Part of the MTA's Artist for Transit initiative, the piece is designed to "give riders a break," and boy, you may need one! Featuring nine colorful scenes of wonky shapes, nature, and dancers, the installation, designed by Parsons students, is said to be the world's largest linear zoetrope. Hopefully this also makes it the world's most fun digital linear zoetrope. Kids are said to be getting smudge marks all over the glass, if that's any kind of indicator. At the moment there's no official tear-down date, so assume it'll be up for a while unless the glass-smudging gets totally out of hand.
