When the National Arts Club board gathered for its annual meeting last night, one person was absent: former president O. Aldon James, who could be found watching the meeting on a TV in the building's basement. He is banned from the building's common spaces, and he rescinded a request to speak at the meeting. Still, the board voted down all amendments that seemed to address problems of the James administration, including an amendment barring board members from renting apartments at the club. Not entirely surprising, since not all members were happy with the proposal to lease those apartments at market rate. [DNAinfo; previously]
