It's been six months since the DOB closed down Bed-Stuy's historic Slave Theater, declaring that the premises were "imminently perilous to life," and now it looks like the building will meet its end at the foreclosure auction block. Brownstoner reports that an auction is set for August 9. The building has a rich African-American history, but its story has been mired in recent years because of ownership disputes and political infighting among those involved with the estate. Back in 2009, the owners were looking to sell the building for nearly $3 million, but they never did, despite reportedly getting a few offers north of $2 million.
