Everybody freak out! The Nine Digit Club is back! Yesterday afternoon, while we were busy enjoying a summer Friday, Robert De Niro's son was busy listing the new most expensive condo in New York City for $100,000,000 flat. The penthouse apartment, which is comprised of the three top floors (plus some servants' quarters on the floor below) of the City Spire, is 8,000 square feet (6BR, 9BA) of marble and mahogany, plus 3,000 square feet of wraparound terraces. We're just going to let the brokerbabble take over from here:
Upon entering the home, on the 73rd floor, be warmly welcomed into a gracious, formal entry foyer adorned with beautiful inlaid marble floors, elegant columns, generous closets and a powder room. From there, classically-inspired interiors await. A Versailles patterned chestnut floor compliments the ornate crown moldings and coffered ceilings ... private internal elevator ... master bath is crafted with hunter green marble, mahogany finishes and bronze fixtures highlighting the double sink vanity, deep soaking tub and extra-large steam shower for two ... Creatively designed in a circular configuration, literally every room of this exclusive property feature dramatic vistas of the city and beyond. The home is equipped with state-of-the-art Crestron and Lutron systems, integrated speakers, electronically time-controlled shades... You get the idea. Before this, the most notable thing that the City Spire had ever done was have somebody jog through one of its listings, which makes a little more sense now, because considering the penthouse's circular layout, you could actually do your jogging there. Because really, why would you ever want to leave?
According to the Times, the owner is Long Island real estate developer Steven Klar, who bought the penthouse as raw space in 1993 for only $4.5 million, and has now decided that it's time to cash in. Since the One57 penthouse couldn't quite break the $100 million barrier (remember, that one was listed for $110 million), it will be very interesting to see how much this place eventually goes for. Russian fertilizer magnates and Qatari Prime Ministers, have at it!
