NY Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver sent a letter to The LeFrak Organization warning them off a new anti-pet policy he says is in violation of a rent stabilization agreement reached in 2009. The new policy at Gateway Plaza in Battery Park City bans a number of dog breeds, limits the size and number of dogs owners can have in their apartments, and assesses an annual $250 fee per animal. LeFrak has already backed off its requirement that cats be declawed. [DNAinfo; previously]
