East Villagers, meet your soon-to-be neighbor. Developers broke ground today on a new 8-story luxury condo building at 211 East 13th Street between Second and Third Avenues. The 83-unit building will have studios to three-bedrooms, with sizes ranging from 500-square-feet to 1,880-square feet. A press release says units will have nine foot ceilings, and a third will have "substantial outdoor space." There will also be six "private rooftop cabana terraces," which we assume will be connected to penthouses. Shared building amenities include a library, fitness center, residents and business lounges, and a rooftop terrace with an outdoor kitchen.
The project is the product of a partnership between Ironstate Development, Abe and Scott Shnay (who are also building the Annabelle Selldorf-designed condos at 10 Bond Street), and Charles Blaichman, who was involved with Jay-Z's failed West Chelsea hotel. BKSK Architects designed the building. There will be 4,500-square-feet of retail space on the ground floor along 14th Street, and sales are expected to start next May. Marketing Directors, Inc. has been tapped as the exclusive sales team, but there's no word on pricing yet.
