Leslie Alexander, owner of the Houston Rockets NBA team, is the man who dropped $42 million on the duplex penthouse of 18 Gramercy Park, according to the Post. Alexander is clearly a fan of splashy, blockbuster sales, as he set a record for Downtown sales when his penthouse at Superior Ink fetched $31.5 million?now he's about to break that record by nearly $10 million. Melanie Lazenby of Prudential Douglas Elliman handled both sales. Alexander's new five-bedroom duplex has four terraces and a pool, and it comes with a key to Gramercy Park. The building is a conversion of a former hotel by the famed 15 Central Park West team?developers Arthur and William Lie Zeckendorf, architect Robert A.M. Stern?and while floor plans are available, it's unclear when the units will be complete and ready for residents.
