New York is still cleaning up the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, but one family has finally finished cleaning up the mess made by 2011's Hurricane Irene. Irene threw an old elm tree through the historic Federal townhouses at 146 and 148 Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights, and both homes had to undergo complete renovations. CWB Architects was already working on a modest interior renovation of 146 Hicks, replacing the HVAC systems, but the smashed facade expanded the work. The front was completely restored, the back was upgraded, and the bathrooms were fully renovated with new fixtures and finishes. CWB recently posted the above photos of the 1826 home, showing the details of the lengthy renovation.
