New York's free-roaming feral felines are getting chic new shelters thanks to Architecture for Animals. For the third year, the initiative invited eight architecture firms?including H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture, Francis Cauffman Architects, and Stonehill Taylor?to create warm, safe homes for cat colonies throughout the city. The teams were assigned a specific location where there's a known cat colony, ranging from museum gardens to industrial lots, and they worked with feral cat caretakers to construct a lightweight, inexpensive shelter specifically for that site. The structures, pictured above, run the gamut from colorful multi-cat buildings to moss-covered single-family homes.
