A coalition of South Bronx residents is taking aim at FreshDirect, which has outgrown its longtime headquarters in Long Island City and was granted $130 million in city subsidies so that it wouldn't relocate out of the five boroughs. Those who live around Bruckner Boulevard, a.k.a. "Asthma Alley," worry about the effect the grocery delivery company's fleet of trucks ("the emissions, the fumes, the gas") would have on the already-trafficked neighborhood, which has grown more residential over the last two decades. South Bronx Unite has sued against the company and is asking for an environmental impact study based on current neighborhood data. [Queens Crap]
