Critics of the New York Public Library's renovation plans won a small victory yesterday during hearing when the library president announced that the plans and the $300 million financing scheme will be reviewed. On top of that, the president distanced the library from Norman Foster's design that calls for removing the historic research stacks: "It was never intended to be a design; it's not a design. We are working with our architects to come up with a design for this new space that will incorporate as much as possible of the historic stacks material." [NYT; previously]
