Six months ago, former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton and financier husband Marc Mezvinsky were the first tenants to enter contract for an apartment in The Whitman, a boutique four-unit conversion on Madison Square Park's northern edge. The ask for the fourth-floor, four-bedroom, full-floor apartment? $10.5 million. But once the deal hit public records, the Post spotted that the power couple actually ended up playing $9.25 million, a full $1.25 million less than it was listed for.
The building's other celebrity tenants include NASCAR star and NYC real estate connoisseur Jeff Gordon and hedge fund guy John Silvetz, who paid $10 million for identical units on lower floors. This kind of thing is apparently normal for first or early buyers, so yeah, remember that. The $25 million penthouse is the only unit left on the market.
