A lot of thought has gone into the opening ceremony of the 9/11 Museum, set for May 21, but it will still be what the Times' calls a "potential political and emotional minefield." It can accommodate only 550 to 750 guests, and after public officials, that leaves just a few hundred for "recognized stakeholders," like families of the victims and first responders. Those tickets will be distributed via a lottery, but all stakeholders will be able to schedule private viewings throughout the week before, when the museum will be open to them 24 hours a day. More than 10,500 people have signed up for a preview, and 20,000 more already purchased $24 general admission tickets. [NYT; previously]
