To go along with the new Lakeside skating center, Prospect Park is constructing a 120-space parking lot atop the nearby Breeze Hill, and parks advocates claim that green space is being destroyed in the process. Much of the under-used area is grass, but there is also existing pavement, which is where the lot will go. Parks officials say that whatever grass is torn up during construction will be replanted: "We would never tear up grass to put in a parking lot." [NYDN; previously]
