Even though a judge threw out their lawsuit regarding the "fortess-like" World Trade Center Security, downtown denizens are starting to feel better about the whole situation and believe that the NYPD is actuallygasp!listening to their concerns. At a CB meeting this week, residents learned that the Trusted Access Program will allow them to take taxis through the site and the security plan will start to be implemented next month when the 9/11 Museum opens. Some of the barriers around the memorial are supposed to be removed soon, so pedestrians will be able to freely walk through the complex between Battery Park City and the Financial District.
