The new building on East 3rd Street between Avenues C and D just launched the first of its rental apartments into the world, and Curbed's got the first in-depth look inside. Named The Robyn, the homage to a beloved Swedish pop singer cannot be ignored. It's yet another Hot Karl-designed project; this one is made up 33 units: 12 studios (starting at $2,100/month), 17 one-bedrooms ($2,495 and up) and 4 duplex penthouse two-bedrooms, with private outdoor terraces and double-height living room space ($3,375 and up). The building's official site shows seven units on the market right now. Amenities include a roof deck, storage units, bike storage, and a pet spa. Plus some sort of weird new laundry system and a cellphone-based video intercom system. Show me those, (and maybe I'll get it).
A spot of history for everyone: the verdant ol' townhouse and garden, built circa 1835, that this project replaced is still is a sore spot for neighborhood residents. (Looking at you, EV Grieve.) Guess that historic home wasn't meant to always be around, thanks to developers David Amirian, Eric Brody, Joseph Klaynberg and JSR Capital. Yep.
