The building at 31-33 Second Avenue used to be moderately attractive; it was a three-story structure with an arched doorway and a facade lined with decorative columns. Then developer Ben Shaoul filed plans for a three-story "expansion." In reality, this means he completely stripped the exterior of the original building and constructed the big bland monstrosity shown above. The ground floor commercial space and old apartments on the second and third floors were remodeled, and six new units (two per floor) were added. Hopefully the interiors look better than the building.
