A large, totally affordable building may be taking the place of two stores on Grand Avenue in East Williamsburg. Community Board 1 will host a public hearing about bringing an eight-story, 51-apartment building to 695 Grand Street between Graham and Manhattan avenues, specifically giving note to whether the lot will qualify for affordable housing incentives through the HPD's Urban Development Action Area program, reports 'Stoner. Green affordable housing designer Magnusson has already drawn up renderings for the site, above, despite the uncertainty of the development and their role in it. Their plans include apartments with Energy Star appliances and low-flow plumbing fixtures as well as roof deck on the building's second and sixth floors.
