The Coney Island History Project thinks the troubled boardwalk should be a scenic landmark, even if the Landmarks Preservation Commission does not. Citing the LPC's reasons for the denial, "Only a five-block section of the 2.7-mile structure was moved, and the new section was built to the original specifications." The CIHP believes that the boardwalk meets every requirement for a scenic landmark, and will rally on January 18 at 1 p.m. to express their opinion. [CIHP; previously; photo via Wikimedia]
