Another soaring luxury condo tower is moving skyward in Midtown. Vornado's 220 Central Park South is starting to rise above its construction fence. At 950 feet, the Robert A.M. Stern-designed tower will not join the supertall club, but it will certainly make a mark on the skyline near Central Park (but the gigantic 217 West 57th Street will be right behind it, so not that much of a mark, comparatively.) Tectonic took share some recent photos of the development. There is signage along its Central Park South side, where a smaller 17-story "villa" will rise. The main tower will front along 58th Street, and this is where the biggest construction work is currently happening.
The project will have 118 condos, and they will all be asking completely obscene prices. Preliminary prices showed that the least expensive unit would ask $11.95 millionthe least expensive. A mindbogglingly large penthouse has supposedly already sold for $250 million.
