New Looks at 1,500-Foot One Vanderbilt Amid NYC's Skyline

Though it'll be a while before One Vanderbilt takes its place in the New York City skyline, a batch of new renderings by design firm Visualhouse (first uncovered by 6sqft) show what the Kohn Pederson Fox-designed building will look like next to its supertall neighbors, including the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings. (The 1,500-foot-tall tower pretty much dwarfs them, as you can see in the image above.)

Though developer SL Green is in the midst of a lawsuit with Andrew S. Penson, the owner of Grand Central Terminal, over air rights around the buildings, plans for the enormous skyscraper are still moving forward. These new renderings offer some new looks at the building's exterior, along with the first interior renderings we've seen.

This render shows how the building's base will fit next to Grand Central Terminal; the two will also be connected via underground passageways.

Visualhouse also created a video from the renderings, which you can see below. The building, which will span an entire city block, isn't expected to be completed for another few years, at least—construction won't even begin until sometime next year.
