Ground Zero Ego Update: Daniel Libeskind's Decline

The Observer's Blair Golson cuts to the heart of the WTC Site cultural commissions, writing about Daniel Libeskind's "dashed hopes" that he might get to build, like, one shitty little building at the site. Why did the Ground Zero master planner lose out on the most recent duo of commissions? One panel member speculates,

"Why start off with someone difficult? If the reputation is that there's a little bit of contentiousness, why do that to yourself?"
The lesson here is as simple as it is pure: fuck with Larry Silverstein and you'll never build jack in this town again.
