Blogger Frost Street meditates on his cramped Upper West Side kitchen, looking up for answers:
New Yorkers know a lot about square footage; how it gets eaten up by bathtubs, hallways, and retrofitted 'conversion' walls. Very few of us think about cubic footage though... In a room with nine-foot-high ceilings, each square foot you give up costs you a cubic yard.Fantastic point. Which real estate broker will be the first to advertise a cramped studio with "great cubic yardage"? A Curbed Gold Star to the winner!
