7 World Trade Center's Cool Blue Glow

When the recently topped off 7 World Trade Center is completed next year, the street level facade won't just reflect light, it will emanate a cool blue glow from special light-refracting prisms designed by glass sculptor James Carpenter. Higher up the tower, Carpenter's designs will also play a role. Reports Wired News,

Direct and reflected sun from adjacent buildings will create subtle changes as one passes the tower. The ever-shifting color accent captured in the facade is intended to enhance the viewer's experience and perception of light.More interesting details at Carpenter's firm's website, including sentences including, "The tower in plan is a parallelogram that is extruded into a 60 story high crystal prism." Trippy!
